2006 Mountaineers Spring Hockey

For years competitive hockey players from Fort McMurray have travelled south to participate in the Spring Hockey Division of Alberta. The Mountaineers Hockey Team was developed to give local families the opportunity to stay in the community and give their athlete the same high quality coaching with less out of town travel.

2014 was the inaugural season for the 2006 born Mountaineers Spring Hockey Team. The Mountaineers travelled to 3 out of town tournaments in the 2015 season. To assist in their road to success they hosted a pub night at a local establishment. One of the fundraising events held was a silent auction. Kalex Custom Carvings Ltd. donated a medal rack with the Mountaineers logo carved into the wood and painted in their team colors. It was able to raise $150 to assist in the team’s travel expenses.
