Well... this board definitely had a few happy accidents. 😂
This beautiful piece of walnut had been waiting patiently in the Kalex shop to be transformed. With its natural edges and beautiful grain, I thought it would make a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, double live-edge Farkle board.
And then I forgot to adjust the carving depth for this particular piece of walnut.
And carved right through it.
Deep breath.
"I can fix that."
So I carved a walnut inlay to repair the pocket and carved it again.
Except...
The text had carved through too.
Another deep breath.
No rage. Just a challenge.
I carved the pocket from the back of the board and filled it with clear resin. And that`s when I discovered something I never would have intentionally designed:
The lettering in the pocket was transparent.
And honestly? I kind of love it.
Was this exactly how I planned for this board to turn out?
Absolutely not. 😂
But that`s part of what makes handmade woodworking so much fun. Sometimes you start with one idea, encounter a few unexpected challenges along the way, and end up with something completely different — and completely unique.

All three are made from solid maple, measuring 6" x 8" x 0.7", and each board has peg storage on the back and comes with 6 metal pegs.

I currently have 2 Extreme Frustration Rummy boards ready for pickup, and I have lots of stock made for Frustration Rummy and Absolute Frustration Rummy.
I’m pretty excited about having all three versions available now. My family has tried it, tested it, and said it is ready to go. It’s been fun watching this game turn into an actual little collection!
